Chris Carpenter is a partner at Best Best & Krieger's Riverside office, providing legal services to firm clients in the areas of estate planning and administration. He has been with the firm over 40 years and served as managing partner for seven and a half years.
Chris has been a fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel for over 15 years and is a past president of the Riverside County Estate Planning Council. He is a frequent speaker on topics related to his specialty, as well as an author of articles on these subjects.
Chris’ practice includes the preparation and administration of revocable and irrevocable trusts and related matters. The practice emphasizes business succession planning for families that own successful small businesses. This includes assisting clients with gifting programs, both to family members and charities, using a variety of techniques and entities that take advantage of different valuation concepts.
Chris received a Bachelor of Arts from Pomona College, and law degree from Yale Law School in 1965. After a 3-year stint in the USAF JAG, he joined Best Best & Krieger and has practiced with the firm ever since.
Chris has two daughters and two grandsons. He lives in Riverside with his wife, Molly, a retired educator. His outside interests include golf, reading and racquetball.
